Clinical Director

Ameet Singh Braich is the clinical director at Camino Recovery. He is responsible for overseeing all interdisciplinary clinical practices and maintaining and improving standards of care.

Ameet has more than 15 years of experience working with individuals and family members affected by anxiety, depression, trauma, substance dependence, process addictions (such as gambling, eating disorders and internet addiction), and self-defeating patterns of thought and behaviour.

Graduating from Hazelden in Minnesota, USA, with an MA in Addiction Counselling and Psychotherapy, Ameet is a specialist in addiction and trauma resolution and holds a firm belief in a holistic approach to therapy.

He also has a BEng in Biochemical Engineering from University College London.

Ameet began researching how early childhood maltreatment and insecure attachment relationships affect cognitive, emotional, and social functioning.

His clinical approach has become increasingly influenced by the timeless teachings of the contemplative traditions, and by the daily practice of mindfulness.

A dynamic speaker, trainer, innovator and programme developer, Ameet challenges clients to step outside of their comfort zone.

He’s a strong believer in the family system, and believes that trauma resolution is paramount for recovery, along with relapse prevention and long-term follow-up.

Besides his academic education, Ameet has completed training in EAP (equine-assisted psychotherapy), non-violent crisis intervention, adolescent behaviour, gambling treatment, multicultural issues and family interventions. He is also a licenced practitioner of EMDR.

With this knowledge, he equips individuals across multiple fields with the knowledge, insight and tools to recognise and respond to the challenges of OH and other drug addictions
