Meena Lavender
Meena Lavender
Family Therapist and EMDR Practitioner
Meena Lavender is a family therapist and EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) Level 2 and Equine Practitioner practitioner at Camino Recovery.
With training in bilingual counselling from Reading University, and a certificate in addictions counselling from London’s University of Greenwich, she has a wealth of experience working in the field of chemical dependency, addiction recovery and trauma resolution.
Meena’s particular interest is in family dynamics, and she works closely with all family members of clients before, during and after their time at Camino Recovery.
She has also taken part in the family programme at the Hazelden centre in Minnesota, USA.
For the past two decades, Meena has used a multi-disciplinary approach to healing, including art therapy, EMDR and EAP (equine-assisted psychotherapy).
Previously, Meena volunteered at a boy’s home, looking after boys affected by sexual and emotional abuse. She has also worked in an Asian women’s refuge for battered women who had children and were living in safe houses. Initially, Meena was brought in to establish their working systems, but she was quickly offered a full-time assistant coordinator position, where she practised bilingual counselling for two years.
Before Camino Recovery, Meena worked as a family therapist in a treatment centre in Devon before coming out to Spain, where she worked as a counsellor and intake liaison.
