Sarah's Recovery Story
My stay at Camino Recovery gave me hope. I came here in full relapse with terrible anxiety, chronic denial of my addiction and a pessimistic outlook for my future. I resisted the programme at first, but with the help of my peers and the staff, I gradually came to understand how much better life in recovery could be. The friendly attitude of the people made me feel comfortable from the start, and the beautiful surroundings added to the benevolent atmosphere that gave me the courage to tackle the hard business of recovery. The therapeutic staff proved to be excellent, and I found the whole setup professional and mature. I made more progress towards a lasting recovery in my 4 weeks than in the whole 8 weeks I spent at my first treatment centre.
What I liked most was the innovative approach which complemented the traditional group therapy; techniques such as equine therapy and metaphoric games gave me an insight into my relationships with others and left me feeling enthusiastic for the future. I would recommend it to anyone who truly wants a quality recovery.
